What is a S.O.U.L. mantra?
A S.O.U.L. mantra is a short, memorable and positive phrase that recalls an essential behaviour for living the night together. These are not rules — they are shared reflexes, born from the floor.
When the bubble is violated, vigilance replaces joy. When it is respected, trust opens the experience.
Respect the bubble — let everyone live their moment.
Respecting the bubble means protecting everyone's physical, emotional and mental space. Freedom exists when limits are recognized and honored. A respected space allows genuine collective relaxation.
In a dense space, bodies, gazes and silences speak. Knowing how to read these signals allows for natural, fluid and respectful encounters. Connection is beautiful when chosen. It becomes intrusive when imposed.
In Practice — Concrete Situations
The principle is clear. But on the floor, in the dark and the noise, what does it actually look like?
Someone is dancing alone, eyes closed. That's a clear signal — they're in their bubble. Don't approach, don't try to connect. Let them live their moment.
You want to approach someone. Start by observing. Are they looking around, smiling, seeming open? Wait for voluntary eye contact before initiating anything.
Someone steps back or stiffens. That's a withdrawal — not an invitation to push further. Step back too. No need to ask why.
You accidentally touch someone. A simple nod or apologetic gesture is enough. No over-explanation needed. The flow of the moment resumes naturally.
Someone invades your bubble. You can move away, turn to face another direction, or raise your hand in a discreet signal. You don't have to explain — your space is valid.

Community Voice
"People who keep pushing through without apologizing, bumping into others and invading their space — they make me completely disconnect. And it’s often the reason I leave."

This mantra is inspired by discussions held during the S.O.U.L. Montréal workshop-conference on October 17, 2024, at the Salon Daomé, as well as the public consultation held in March 2026.
