Rights & Legal Protection

Your rights
exist too

The values SOUL stands for — consent, dignity, privacy, safety — are also backed by law in Québec and Canada.

The laws that protect you at the heart of the night.

This is who we are.
Help us bring these values to life — together, we create this space.
Any breach may result in being asked to leave the event.

This page isn't meant to intimidate. It's here to remind us that the behaviours the underground community has given itself as values have long been recognized as important by society too. Culture sometimes precedes the law. Here, they point in the same direction.

01 — Consent
Consent is non-negotiable
Every physical, intimate, or sexual interaction requires free and explicit consent. Silence, pressure, or ambiguity cannot replace a yes. This principle applies everywhere — including on a dancefloor.
Mantra 02 — Without consent, it's a no
02 — Your Image & Privacy
Your image belongs to you too
Photographing, filming, publishing, or sharing someone's image without their consent is a violation of their privacy. This includes stories, reels, screenshots, and posts on any platform. In intimate contexts, it is a criminal offence.
Mantra 06 — No Phone
03 — Harassment & Insistence
Insistence can cross a line
Following someone, repeatedly pressing after a refusal, threatening someone, or making them fear for their safety can constitute criminal harassment. A "no" — spoken, gestured, or expressed through body language — carries legal weight.
Mantra 04 — Respect the Bubble
04 — Dignity & Respect
Respect is more than a value
Every person has the right to dignity, honour, and reputation. Discrimination based on race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other ground is prohibited. Goodwill isn't a luxury — it's a recognized obligation.
Mantra 03 — Be Kind, Bring the Light
05 — Collective Responsibility
A strong framework protects everyone
Québec civil law recognizes that every person has an obligation not to cause harm to others, according to the rules of conduct that apply to their circumstances. This applies to event organizers and participants alike. Building a respectful space isn't just good practice — it's a legally recognized responsibility.
